Feeling Fiery After Giving Birth
I became a mother of a premature baby with my third child so his birth was my second caesarean. I had done this before, albeit my first was done with a spinal block instead of general anaesthetic and the only difference I thought at the time was just that, the general anaesthetic. However when I woke in recovery… I was hot! Very hot! Could not cool down hot! I felt like I was on fire!
I couldn’t for the life of me understand why I felt like this. I just could not cool down and feel comfortable and I started to feel like I was overreacting. I had no idea what was going on and it wasn’t until after my NICU experience, scrolling through socials that I had noticed a post on magnesium sulphate.
I Googled like crazy and funnily enough, I then had the answer to why I was overwhelming hot all those months ago.
For me this highlights that not all hospital experiences are the same and I’ve come to realise that not all information is shared either. On top of having your baby in the NICU it can be a very confusing time for your own medical experience. Especially if you have had an operation and are recovering and healing physically from giving birth.
On the flip side this experience also highlights the ease in which we have access to information and shared experiences. Whether it’s an Instagram post, an article or a blog. I’m grateful for the shared knowledge within the NICU community and shedding some light on my journey. We are indeed miracle makers so I wear it proud with a Miracle Maker Tee 💜
